With a passion for the geriatric patient population, Jenn Tompkins, Founder, CEO, Consultant at Revolution Health Solutions, has partnered with providers and other healthcare companies to meet patients where they are by providing in-home monitoring and chronic care management services. The outstanding clinical team at Revolution is focused on advocating for their patients throughout their healthcare journey. They aim to improve patients’ healthcare literacy, chronic disease management, and self-advocacy.

Revolution Health Solutions has been successful because of the clinical care team who pours into their patient population daily. This exceptional team of clinicians is available 7 days a week, 365 days a year, to support their patients on service. Jenn firmly believes the company's success is due to the care team that works for her. Without them, she knows, none of this would be possible. They go over and beyond in every interaction. Each clinician demonstrates excellent care, empathy, advocacy, and compassion for the patients they support.

The founders, Jenn and Ben Tompkins (a husband-and-wife team) were lucky to find success within the first few months of starting the company. In 2020, the founder duo had connected with several providers who expressed frustration in their attempts to find a quality outsourced RPM/CCM company that had superior customer service, timely care coordination, got patient engagement and compliance, and provided simple and effective device options for their patients. Doctors were also clear that they wanted to avoid being responsible for the technology or tech support that comes with most RPM programs.

The founders were confident that they could overcome the hurdles in this space and excel in all areas the doctors were describing. Ben is an accomplished healthcare executive with more than two decades of working with healthcare organizations to optimize their revenue cycle management and technology. Jenn has an extensive background in clinical care. She started as a Paramedic and has worked in various settings, from outpatient orthopedics to home healthcare to inpatient and cardiovascular intensive care units. Throughout her career, she has been a fierce advocate for changing how patients are cared for throughout the healthcare system. Jenn has seen first-hand the effects of what happens when the healthcare system is more reactive than proactive in its approach to healthcare management.

Combining their backgrounds, knowledge, and passion, they started Revolution Health Solutions (originally Revolution RPM) from the ground up, with no investors, assistance, or additional employees until they had their first 300 patients on service. Jenn was determined to go patient by patient to see what worked well and what did not. Modifying the process, the technology, and every other aspect of the company until she reached her goal of making the services as simple and as beneficial as possible for the patients and the providers. Once she got there, Jenn began building out her clinical team.

Since that time, Revolution Health Solutions has grown organically, one patient and one provider at a time, primarily through word-of-mouth. They are now assisting in the care of thousands of patients. The company also provides outsourced clinical care teams to other RPM/CCM vendors who have the software and technology but need the clinical care piece to offer a total turnkey solution to their clients.

Jenn and Ben Tompkins are passionate about seeing RPM and CCM services grow nationwide and become more recognized and reimbursed by additional payers. They want to ensure that all patients who need it have access to the services. To that end, they both spend considerable time providing consulting services for other companies in the space. They cover everything, including but not limited to how to start a company, what to look for in a vendor, what software and technology would be good to consider based on the company’s specific goals, and how to care for the patients successfully. They also work extensively with other companies and providers' practices on best practices regarding revenue cycle management.

“Our revolutionary approach is that we always keep our focus on the human element of patient care. It is at the core of our business. We partner with wonderful vendors in the space for our software and technology needs,” says Jenn. “Those partnerships allow us to stay focused on what we are most committed to, our patients. We are always looking for better ways to care. Our focus at this moment is to help fight for better reimbursement for these services to make them available for a more diverse patient population.”

As far as Jenn’s advice to other leaders, she says, “As a leader, pour into your team. Your success as a company is based on the people who surround you. Hire people that are smarter than you and ones that challenge you. Work hard alongside them. Listen and learn from them. Most importantly, never forget to be both humble and grateful.” She is clear that with grit, hard-work, and determination, there is almost nothing that cannot be accomplished.ICX
